Local recreation programs offer free spots to 170 children

Thursday, September 14, 2017 — In celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary, the OCH Foundation’s recLINK program partnered with the Ottawa Sportspage Newspaper to help 150 children and youth living in Ottawa Community Housing get access to recreational programming. Local community sports clubs rose to the challenge and generously offered over 170 free spots to our children, a value of over $34,000.

The CAMPS Project also held sports clinics in Pinecrest Terrace, Morrison Garden, Rochester Heights, Banff Avenue, and Britannia Woods. 100 children living in these communities were introduced to new sports for a day. Rugby, skateboarding, lacrosse, field hockey, ultimate frisbee and water polo where all featured during the clinics.
