Thursday, October 21, 2021 — Thursday, October 21 – The Ottawa Community Housing Foundation’s recLINK program has received a $15,000 grant from the Jumpstart Sport Relief Fund. The money will help Foundation staff connect more children and youth living in Ottawa Community Housing neighborhoods to arts, camps and sport opportunities at no cost to families. The Foundation recently launched a ‘recLINK return to play’ strategy to address the significant play drought that has occurred as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Along with Jumpstart, the OCH Foundation understands the role sports and recreation play in the health and wellbeing of kids and their families and applauds Jumpstart for their response and commitment to help ensure continued opportunities for kids across Canada to play. Jumpstart conducted a State of Sport study via Ipsos which revealed the pandemic has not only impacted current access to sport and play but has real long-term effects as well. Ottawa Community Housing Foundation and the communities it serves have experienced the impact of the pandemic first-hand. The funding will go a long way to help move more young people out of isolation and into quality sports and recreation programming.
