Thursday, October 18, 2018 — The 2019 iteration of the OCH Foundation’s annual back to school campaign, Pack a Sack, was a major success. This year’s fundraising surpassed all other years since its inception in 2014 and the Foundation was able to equip 1,000 children aged 4-13 with school supplies.
Alongside Scotiabank, Staples and Bridgehead, the Foundation collected donations to purchase school supplies for children living in Ottawa Community Housing. The three major program partners collected donations from over 55 of their retail locations across Ottawa and contributed a collective $16,000 to the program. Scotiabank then matched an additional $11,000 and, after a number of generous corporate and public donations, the Foundation raised a total of $32,000 during this year’s campaign.
“One of the OCH Foundation’s main focuses is to ensure youth living in low-income communities have the opportunity to succeed in the classroom, regardless of the socio-economic barriers they might face,” said Wayne French, Chair of the OCH Foundation Board of Directors. “Pack a Sack alleviates the financial stress our families face when sending their kids back to school.”
