Thursday, March 7, 2019 — OCH Foundation has received a generous $25,000 contribution from Scotiabank to expand its Youth Futures program in 2019.
Youth Futures is an Ottawa-based initiative that helps transition high school-aged youth from vulnerable communities into post-secondary education and employment opportunities. Youth Futures will serve 140 youth in 2019.
Stewarding the youth through these experiences are youth mentors – most of which are Youth Futures alumni – who have successfully moved into post-secondary. These mentors are critical role models and resources for our youth participants, still in high school. Each mentor is responsible for supervising 12 young people each over the course of the seven-month program. The funds from Scotiabank will go towards hiring an additional two mentors for the program year.
This contribution from Scotiabank cements their commitment to transforming the lives of children and youth living in OCH communities. Scotiabank has been working with the OCH Foundation for several years. Scotiabank is a primary partner of its Pack-a-Sack back to school program, which provides children each year with school supplies.
