During the summer of 2017, OCH’s Caldwell community will receive an upgrade to the park located in the center of the neighbourhood. TD Bank Group has committed $250,000 to the project – one of its largest green space contributions in the Ottawa area this year. The initiative is a part of its #TDCommonGround Project that celebrates green spaces that bring Canadians and communities together. TD will have a significant impact in communities throughout the country in support of Canada’s 150thanniversary. Several members of the community, including children, were consulted on the project and attended the unveiling of the plans and ground breaking ceremony.
The new community space will have several green features and will will serve as a hub for members of the community of all ages. The build will include:
- Planter benches for community members to use as gardens or flower beds
- A rain shelter with rain capturing system to provide water for watering the flower beds
- An organic Labyrinth for children to play in
- Trees throughout the park to provide shade
Construction is set to begin in the later summer months and the area will be accessible this fall. For more information on the project contact Christa Allevato at firstname.lastname@example.org.
