Supporting Future Leaders: OCH Foundation Awards Bursaries to 30 Post-Secondary Students

Ottawa, ON — August 20, 2024 – The Ottawa Community Housing Foundation (OCH Foundation) is thrilled to announce that it distributed Inspired by Learning Bursaries to 30 talented post-secondary students living within Ottawa Community Housing (OCH) neighbourhoods. The bursary distribution took place on August 20, 2024, at 5:30 PM.

This year’s bursary program, generously sponsored by Desjardins with a contribution of $25,000, aims to support students in their pursuit of post-secondary education, vocational training, and certification programs. The Inspired by Learning Bursary provides essential financial assistance, helping these students overcome economic barriers and pursue their academic and professional dreams.

“This bursary program is a testament to the potential of the youth living in Ottawa Community Housing communities,” said Angela Begin, Executive Director of the OCH Foundation. “We thank Desjardins for their ongoing support of the Inspired by Learning Bursary Program which will empower 30 ambitious students, giving them the tools they need to succeed. We know that education is a powerful tool—one that can open doors, create opportunities, and change lives. By supporting these students, we are nurturing the future of our communities.”

The OCH Foundation is deeply grateful to Desjardins for their continued commitment to supporting education and community development. Their generous contribution ensures that students from OCH communities can access the resources they need to succeed academically and build brighter futures.

The bursaries awarded are worth $1,000 each and can be put towards a range of expenses including tuition fees, textbooks, supplies, other educational costs and living expenses. Each recipient was selected based on academic merit, community involvement, and a demonstrated commitment to their personal and professional growth.
