Tomorrow Ready is grounded in a simple principle: communities know best what they need. Run in collaboration with Khalsa Aid Ottawa, this program supports tenants living in Ottawa Community Housing (OCH) communities by providing essential food and hygiene products. By bridging the gap between support provided by food banks and other community organizations, Tomorrow Ready helps ensure tenants have access to essentials that might otherwise be missed. In 2025, Tomorrow Ready conducted 18 aid drops, delivering support to over 1,000 tenants.
Tomorrow Ready strengthens food security by coordinating community aid drops that provide perishable and non-perishable food, as well as essential hygiene supplies, directly to tenants. Each aid drop is guided by requests submitted by tenant groups, ensuring that the items distributed reflect the community’s most immediate needs. By putting decision-making directly in the hands of tenants, Tomorrow Ready delivers targeted support where it is needed most.
Tomorrow Ready aid drops are coordinated in partnership with Khalsa Aid and on-site community partners, and are scheduled based on community need and the length of time since the last drop. This approach helps ensure support is distributed equitably across Ottawa Community Housing communities.
Tenants interested in learning when the next Tomorrow Ready drop will take place in their community are encouraged to speak with their tenant leaders or Community Developer. They can provide information about upcoming aid drops and community eligibility. Community Developers may also submit a request for a Tomorrow Ready drop to us, on the community’s behalf.
Community aid drops take place in a different community every two weeks. Each drop is tailored to the specific needs identified by the community prior to the drop.
